a few options to help at 3C and Winger depth with Ottawa as a trade partner.

At Centre - Pageau (UFA), Tierney (RFA), Anisimov (1 yr left).
At Wing - Ennis (UFA) & Namestnikov (UFA who can also play Centre)

Cost obviously depends on which player(s) you like and how much money you need to send the other way.

Just seen that Brandon Manning got suspended in the AHL for using a racial slur. Would the team have an out clause in his contract for unprofessional conduct? This would be a great opportunity to make some cap space for deadline deals if there was.

I would be interested in Pageau, Namestikov, or Duclair

The three teams that are most desperate to make the playoffs seem to be Edmonton, Toronto, and Buffalo. I see a bidding war developing between those teams but Toronto needs D and a goalie most. If I am Holland I wouldn’t worry too much about futures. The fans and McDavid will be really disappointed if the team misses again. That first round pick is not very important in the big picture. I’d go out and get the guys the team needs.

Aim for small-time adds that'll improve the team at lower cost. Unless you're adding someone with term like Zucker or Rakell, the 1st shouldn't be in the discussion. If that doesn't get it done and you can't buy low on Athanasiou, then target one or two of the cheaper additions. A duo of Tierney and Ennis coming in from Ottawa would address a couple issues.

What about this deal with Ottawa:

Edmonton trades Ottawa their 2020 1st round pick.

Ottawa trades Edmonton Chris Tierney (UFA this summer), Tyler Ennis (UFA this summer) and Columbus' 2nd round pick in the 2020 draft.

Edmonton gets a solid 3rd line centre, a middle 6 winger who is having a really good season and a pick likely to be in the 40 to 50 range of the draft. To get this they give up a pick likely to be anywhere in the 10 to 25 range of the draft.

The risk for the Oilers is they miss the playoffs and the pick has the potential to move up.

"The Oilers need an Elite Defensive Defensemen"

Blatantly missing from this article.

Bouchard is 1 year away from being a force in the NHL, Broberg is 2-3.

Oscar Klefbom and Adam Larsson are not cutting it right now... Darnell Nurse really wants to be a winger.

I'd love to see someone brought in that the opponents have to make a "gameplan" around.

I'd love Drew Doughty (Matt Tkachuk connection on that would be great for the division + BoA).

*******

Forwards should be cheap and readily available.

The Oilers still have the Chiarelli cap issue to un-frank for the next season or two.

Brassard and Komarov for Chiasson and Khiara... You get your 3rd line centre in Brassard and the Isles get the future potential of Khiara. The Isles could throw in Ho Sang if that helps. Komarov also gives you some grit.

Not worth the term on Komarov's deal. Solid attempt, though

Does Tierney for Puljujarvi + Gagner + lottery ticket 4th round pick make sense? He's RFA so could be 3rd line Centre for 2+ years depending on what you decide to do with him at the end of year.

Essentially call it Tierney for Puljujarvi with the 4th being the cost to take Gagner back for the rest of the year.

I'm not sure how to really Value Puljujarvi at this point... I'm basically valuing him at around a mid 2nd round pick which is what I would think Tierney is worth.

I'd take it, but I also don't value Puljujarvi as highly as others do.
